Exam Structure & Principles

Exam texts and tasks are based on real-life situations and authentic communication. Speaking tasks reflect practical, everyday scenarios that candidates are likely to face in study, work, and daily life.

Each task is designed to test a specific language skill accurately. For example, listening tests do not depend on writing speed or memory, and speaking and writing are assessed through open, realistic formats.

ÖSD exams assess all core language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Combined skills such as conversation and correspondence are also tested, while grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and spelling are evaluated indirectly.

Examiners follow strict evaluation criteria and detailed assessment guidelines. All assessors undergo intensive training to ensure consistency, fairness, and high reliability across all exam levels.
